Leaders for Life- SLSA Leaders’ Conference 2012

This year’s SLSA Leaders’ Conference was held at North Cronulla Surf club from May 30 – June 3. The conference brought together a nationwide group of SLSA’s leaders from club presidents to captains, chairs and directors to not only network, but to extend leadership skills and create an effective national movement through shared information ideas and resources

Here at SLSA, we understand the role that our leaders play (at all levels of the organisation) in creating and maintaining healthy clubs - the core of our movement.  The Leaders’ Conference was espoused as an annual program to further SLSA’s commitment to developing our people and our leaders.

The program is tailored to the skills, needs and issues identified by the participants. It adopts a workshop approach, providing the opportunity for participants to share skills and expertise. Each year, the conference also presents guest speakers to share their own stories of leadership and provide insight into the greater SLS movement.

The event was an overall success with almost 70% of participants rating their overall experience in the highest category of the post evaluation survey.

Here is what a couple of this year’s participants had to say about their experience;

“The conference exceeded my expectations. I have been so busy doing things that I had forgotten about planning and strategy. Thank you. The interaction with other attendees was great and will be invaluable in the coming years…”

“We all have different challenges facing our clubs, however there is more than enough experience amongst our organisation to enable us to solve our personal and club problems...”
