One of the most challenging endurance races in surf sports
The Coates Hire Coolangatta Gold is one of the most challenging endurance races in surf sports. What began as the central theme for a motion picture 30 years ago, has now commanded a place on Australia’s annual sports calendar.
The iconic event will return to the Gold Coast on October 15 and 16, 2016. The multi-disciplinary 32.4km short and 41.8km long courses combines swimming, running, board paddling and surf skiing.
Saturday 15 October: Coates Hire Coolangatta Gold Short Course
Sunday 16 October: Coates Hire Coolangatta Gold Long Course and the Coates Hire Coolangatta Gold Youth Challenge.

Short course Saturday: Male 10.50am approx and Female 11:10am approx.
Long course Sunday: Male 11:25am approx and Female 11:55am approx.
Presentations for the elite categories (short and long course) will occur on the stage at the finishing area at Queen Elizabeth Park, Coolangatta approximately 30mins after the top 3 male and female elite competitors have crossed the finish line on Sunday.
The best place to view transitions (Run > Swim > Board) is at Burleigh Beach.
