BODY SCIENCE GREAT AUSTRALIAN SWIM SERIES

Now entering its third season, Ky Hurst’s Great Australian Swim Series will once again bring an exciting and innovative sporting experience to swimmers of all ages and abilities.

The Body Science Great Australian Swim Series, founded by Olympian and Ironman Champion Ky Hurst involves four ocean swims along the east-coast of Australia between October 2012 and January 2013, starting on the Gold Coast at Coolangatta Beach, followed by Hamilton Island on White Haven Beach, Brisbane at Redcliffe on Moreton Bay, and finishing in the backyard of Sydney's iconic Opera House.

The Swim Series held in some of Australia’s most recognised beaches and destinations, is not just an ocean swim but is an experience, providing a fun and festive morning out while encouraging individuals and families of all ages and abilities to take part in one of the fastest growing mass participation events in the nation.

The main swim is 2.2km in distance, incorporating categories for all age groups (youth to masters) male and female. There is also an elite level race showcasing Australia and the World’s best open water swimmers. To encourage wider community involvement the events program also includes a 750m swim catering for the less experience swimmer. Rounding the event off is the Junior Kids 300m swim for kids twelve years and under, offering the opportunity for participants to swim with renowned Australian Swimming, Surf and sporting heroes.  

Additional race elements on the day include such events as the “dash for cash” and an “anything goes” category in both the 2.2km and 750m race which provides participants the opportunity to swim with family and mates and/or use swimming aides. The action isn’t limited to the water with trade and sponsor exhibitions, food and drink outlets, and promotional giveaways taking place on shore.
