Could you be an Olympic Gold Medallist?
In April 2012, Calyn Parkinson from Manly SLSC met RA's benchmarks and was selected into their transfer program. Calyn is now training at Mosman Rowing Club under the guidance of Olympic coach, Nick Garrett and has started on the road to Rio. Could you do the same?
- Are you between 16-25 years old?
- Females – are you over 180cm tall?
- Males, over 193cm?
- Do you have the strength and endurance to win Gold?
If yes, then we strongly encourage you to register to be tested.
No rowing experience is required.
Athletes that meet the benchmarks for the physical testing will be placed in a 'learn to row' program with a local rowing club and given a training program that is complementary to their surf commitments.
RA can run testing sessions in most locations across Australia at a time to suit you, so if you want to see if you have the potential to win Gold in Rio, register here.
Below are the SLS athletes selected in 2012/13:
Calyn Parkinson (Manly SLSC)
Dean Patterson (Manly SLSC)
Bernadette Wallace (Tugun SLSC)
Georgie Rowe (Manly SLSC)
Dean Paul (Alexander Headlands SLSC)
Surf Carnival Talent Spotting
RA staff will be attending SLS carnivals across Australia to search for athletes they feel have the potential to win Gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Athletes identified through this process will be contacted by SLSA’s Talent Identification Coordinator to talk about the program and arrange a testing session.
