Entries now open for Aussies 2020
Entries have officially opened for the 2020 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships!
The world’s largest Surf Sports event will take place on the Gold Coast between April 18-26, 2020 and is expected to attract over 6300 competitors across 481 events.
The Aussies in 2020 will be the 105th running of the annual event and will take on additional significance as for the first time in the history of the competition, the event will coincide with ANZAC Day, with plans underway to appropriately incorporate and commemorate this significant occasion.
In addition to ANZAC day, other important milestones will be acknowledged including 100 years of Surf Boats, 100 Years of March Past, 50 Years of IRB’s and 40 Years of female participation.
“The Aussies in 2020 is set to be the most memorable Aussies yet,” said Surf Life Saving Australia Sports Manager Wayne Druery.
“With the added significance of such momentous milestones, and the incorporation of a poignant ANZAC Day ceremony on the beach, competitors will be a part of a truly historic and memorable event.
“The 2019 Championships saw 6,332 amazing competitors from 220 clubs across the country, and we expect that number to increase for the 2020 competition.
“There will be 481 events across the eight days with the introduction of new events such as a new Age category, 75+ and additional Beach relay events such as 2 x 1km and mixed gender beach relays”.
