The Federal Government recently announced a continued commitment to water safety. As part of this commitment government advised that $3 million was being provided to current programs conducted by Surf Life Saving Australia, Royal Life Saving Society – Australia and Austswim.
Surf Life Saving Australia is truly appreciate of the ongoing support it is to receive, which has been advised as support to the following programs with funds going direct back to clubs and states:
- The Beach Safety Equipment Fund, approx. $1.6 million: The BSEF provides $5,000 to each Surf Life Saving Club (311) in Australia to purchase essential front line and emergency response equipment.
- Blackspot Program, approx. $360K: The Blackspot program provides funding to states for initiatives that address coastal drowning deaths in recognised blackspot locations.
- The other funds are being provided to Royal Life Saving Society and AustSwim for various ongoing programs.
SLSA acknowledges the support of government to support clubs and states to provide core services and undertake initiatives to reduce the loss of life and injury along our coastline.
