Partial relocation of 2019 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships
Due to poor surf conditions and weather, the U17 male and female, Open and U19 female and all surf boat competitions will be relocated to North Kirra from Friday 5 April 2019.
After assessing conditions throughout the day and forecasting conditions ahead, organisers have implemented their contingency plans to allow competitors the opportunity to race.
Surf Life Saving Australia will reschedule the competition and will continue to monitor conditions. The safety of our competitors is paramount.
Australian Surf Life Saving Championships Referee, Wayne Druery said, “Upon completing our regular risk assessment and in consultation with safety advisors, coaches and competitors, we have made the decision to suspend competition today for those age groups and relocate to our back up beach location of North Kirra.
“Our contingency plans have swung into action and competition will re-commence at North Kirra tomorrow.”
Conditions will continue to be monitored over the coming days.
A revised timetable will be published on the SLSA website in the near future.
