Performance coaches work with athletes competing at club all the way through to international and elite domestic competition levels. Performance coaches typically have specialist disciplines in which their expertise is focused in.

The Performance Coach course has been created to provide coaches with the knowledge and skills to effectively plan and deliver discipline specific coaching sessions with a particular focus on athlete performance. The Performance Coach is the part of the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) in-line with the Surf Life Saving Australia Coaching Pathway.Read more
The Foundation Coach provides an entry level course for parents and club members who are new to coaching. The course aims to provide coaches with the knowledge and skills needed to coach nippers in a surf club environment using a games sense approach. It covers the three general principles of surf sports; swim, beach and board. The Foundation Coach is the first stage of the Surf Life Saving Australia’s coaching pathway.Read more
The Development Coach course has been created to provide coaches with the knowledge and skills to effectively plan and deliver discipline specific coaching sessions with a particular focus on skill development. The Development Coach is an entry point as well as being the second stage of the Surf Life Saving Australian coaching pathway.Read more

A select group of coaches who have been identified as leaders within their chosen field. These coaches are talent identified as a part of the National High Performance Program or as talented high performance coaches operating outside this particular program. Each member of this group will be supported with an Individual Coach Performance Plan (ICPP) which will facilitate SLSA’s high performance coaches to be at the cutting edge of lifesaving sport at the highest level. Each HP Coach will be required to attend an annual workshop where they will be required to either present at or participate in the workshop.Read more
