About Lifesaving Assessor

Assessors support the high quality and nationally consistent assessment of specified Surf Life Saving awards.

The responsibility of the assessor is to support training program participants through their assessment process and to make accurate assessment decisions. Working in conjunction with club trainers, you will assess course participants deeming their competency and recommending further training if required to take a participant to the required level.

What qualifications and/or prerequisites do I need?

To undertake this role you need to hold or obtain the following qualifications and prerequisites:


The Assessor Certificate provides participants with the skills, knowledge and experience to competently assess surf life saving awards and nationally recognised qualifications.

Other Requirements

Assessors are required to hold the award they wish to assess and complete an endorsement process in order to assess Surf Life Saving awards.
