The Safeguarding Children and Young People Program assists Surf Life Saving (SLS) in our commitment to the protection of children from abuse, harm and exploitation.
The program builds the capacity of SLS to protect our children and young people by providing resources and education to support clubs to provide a safe environment for all members. Clubs can achieve the Australian Sports Commission Child Safe standards through the development and implementation of the following key strategies:
Resources, webinars and an online training course have been developed to assist all Clubs to achieve these standards.
The Safeguarding Children and Young People Program is underwritten by the Surf Life Saving Australia Member Protection Policy (MPP).
The Safeguarding Children and Young People Guidelines have been developed to assist all Surf Life Saving members to meet their obligations, specifically relating to children and young people, under the Surf Life Saving Australia Member Protection Policy.
Safeguarding Children and Young People Awareness Course provides participants with: an awareness of child abuse and child protection and the confidence to be able to take appropriate action when they become concerned for the safety of a child. To have this course recognised on your Surfguard record please complete the course via the Members Portal.
