Surf Life Saving Australia has confirmed that strong surf conditions have forced the suspension of The IRB Championships 2018 at Thirroul Beach NSW for the remainder of Saturday 14 July.
Competition is expected to recommence from 07:30am Sunday morning depending on a safety review of the surf conditions.
A revised schedule of events will be released for tomorrow’s competition later today.
The decision of the Australian IRB Championships Competition Committee has been made in consultation with athletes, officials and local emergency services.
Event organisers continue to closely monitoring the conditions and are committed to providing the most accurate information to competitors, officials and spectators as soon as it is available.
Surf Life Saving Australia will ensure that competitors, officials, the media and the public are kept up to date with the latest competition information.
